The Ultimate Fighter 17 Finale slated for April 13 in Las Vegas (Updated) | News – MMAjunkie.com

The soon-to-debut 17th season of “The Ultimate Fighter” will conclude with a live finale event on Saturday, April 13, UFC officials confirmed with MMAjunkie.com (www.mmajunkie.com).

The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas hosts the event, which airs on FX and FUEL TV.

The finale will crown a show winner for “TUF 17,” which debuts Jan. 22 with a two-hour episode on FX as part of the reality show’s move from Friday to Tuesday nights.

This season’s tournament begins with 28 middleweights, and the 14 winners from an elimination round of fights become official cast members.

Earlier this week, MMAjunkie.com first reported the “TUF 17” cast, which includes fighters from 16 different U.S. states and territories, as well as England, Jamaica, New Zealand, South Africa and Sweden. Familiar and notable names include Zach Cummings, Nik Fekete, Robert “Bubba” McDaniel, Joshua Samman and others.

This year’s head coaches include UFC light-heavyweight champion Jon Jones (17-1 MMA, 11-1 UFC) and recent middleweight title challenger Chael Sonnen (27-12-1 MMA, 6-5 UFC). Two weeks after the TUF 17 Finale, Jones and Sonnen headline the UFC 159 pay-per-view event at Prudential Center in Newark, N.J.
